Year of Gardens '08 > Governance
Governance
The primary aim is to manage the project, working with Cheshire gardens, tourism businesses, local communities, cultural consortia and The Liverpool Culture Company, to create a dynamic events programme for 2008.
The group is chaired by Felicity Goodey, a former BBC journalist who led the project to create The Lowry International theatre and gallery complex in Salford and more recently mediacity:UK which will move the major BBC departments from London to the North West and create the biggest media hub in the UK.
Other members of the group include people with influence in regional policy-making, who can and will open doors within their own areas of influence - as well as senior managers in key public and private sector organisations, including the new Gardens Development Executive.
While remaining a small and manageable group, the members together have the knowledge, contacts and interests required to ensure the Year of Gardens is a success. They will also be free to invite others to attend group meetings when needed - for example, sponsors and representatives of Liverpool 08.
