Year of Gardens '08 > Community Programme

Community Programme

Cheshire’s Year of the Gardens Initiative is launching its Community Grants Scheme for communities who love gardens and gardening and want to contribute to the celebration of Cheshire’s gardens in 2008.

This grant scheme aims to support groups that are developing new or existing gardening projects or initiatives that will celebrate gardens and improve the local gardening environment. It’s all about getting local people together to share or kick-start their passion for gardening as well as creating beautiful environments for all to enjoy. Some of the ideas that have already been mentioned are garden open days, garden festivals, growing competitions, food growing projects, improvements to community open spaces and gardening for wildlife projects, but we are sure that groups out there have other ideas that could qualify for a grant.

Grants are between £100 and £1000 and the fund is open to all Cheshire based Community Groups, Voluntary Sector Groups, Social Enterprises, Not-for-Profit Organisations or Schools with bank accounts. For groups that are successful in securing a grant, the funds must be spent by December 2008.
